SDRAM Upgrade – The Multiple Options for Users

To improve the computer’s performance, one of the easiest and cost effective ways is to upgrade the SD memory and the process is quite a simple one, if only the basic knowledge of computer memory is acquired.

To achieve this, the present RAM or the random access memory of the system has to be known because the laptop, basically, uses the memory to run the applications and data on the laptop. As a rule of the thumb, the higher the memory, the faster the laptop would work.

There are a lot of varieties of ram and Synchronous dynamic RAM is one among them, though it has been widely replaced by the DDR RAM. The standard SDRAM has around 150 to 166 MHz. To upgrade the laptop with more Sdram, it has to be first ensured whether the laptop is compatible with this kind of memory and find the upper limit of RAM, that is, how much more memory can be added to it.

The best way to find this out is to check with the owner’s manual that would indicate the type of RAM the laptop is using and the maximum amount it can take. SDRAM is not back ward or forward compatible, which means, if the laptop does not have SDRAM technology, it will not be able to take SDRAM upgrade.

Also, the memory of the video or graphics card in the system is crucial which is very important in the resolution and color depth of the display of the laptop. A faster and more powerful upgrade will give an increased performance, especially for handling graphics and videos.
